SPECIAL EDUCATION-INCLUSION SUPPORT SPECIALIST

 

Description of basic functions and responsibilities

 

Under the direction of the School Site Principal and the Director of Special Services, the Inclusion Support Specialist’s primary responsibility is to support students with disabilities (SWD) who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in general education classes. The Inclusion Support Specialist provides general education teachers with information to help differentiate instruction and provide individual accommodations and modifications in accordance with students’ IEPs.

 

Major duties and responsibilities

 

Support SWD in general education classrooms across the curriculum.


Provide direct push-in support for SWD in general education classrooms.

Provide information and materials to paraeducators who support SWD in general education classrooms.

 

Provide information and support for implementation of IEPs.


Collect data as needed for IEP goal development with special education specialists to write IEP goals.

Collect data as needed for requested for updates on progress toward IEP goals.

 

Provide information about students’ learning to general education teachers.

 

Inform general education teachers about each student’s learning style(s), strengths, and areas of need.

 

Inform general education teachers of how students can prove their learning.

 

Inform general education teachers of behavior goals/positive behavior supports/positive behavior intervention plans.

 

Assist general education teachers in developing lesson plans using tenets of universal design for learning.

 

Modify content and materials for SWD.

 

Modify content and materials prior to presentation.

 

Provide guidance on modification of content and materials to special education staff.

Coordinate and facilitate Professional Development with:

 

Paraeducators

 

General Education Teachers

 

Special Education Specialists

 

Related Service Providers

 

Others, as needed

 

 

Other duties and responsibilities

 

Maintain Professional Competence


Attend staff and specialists’ meetings

 

Participate in professional development through SELPA and other professional organizations

 

Performs other duties as assigned by the Special Services Administrator



SUPERVISION EXERCISED OR RECEIVED

The Inclusion Support Specialist is directly responsible to the School Site Principal and the Director of Special Services.

           

 EVALUATION
 

Annually by the School Site Principal in consultation with the Director of Special Services



COMPENSATION

Appropriate placement on the salary schedule.
