CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR), will serve Sutter County and district students by providing occupational therapy and sensory motor integration therapy to IEP goals and objectives.

 IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 1.   Responds to request for services in accordance with policies and procedures.

2.   Assists OTR with data collection and assessments.

3.   Assists OTR with development of treatment goals.

4.   Implements intervention under supervision of OTR.

5.   Can adapt intervention environment, tools and materials under supervision of OTR.

6.   Is part of a collaborative IEP team.

7.   Maintains treatment area, equipment, and supply inventory as needed.

8.   Maintains records and documentation required by work setting and under the supervision of the OTR.

9.   Travel to various school sites in Sutter County for the provision of therapy services as designated by the supervising occupational therapist.

 EMPLOYMENT STANTDARDS:

 Knowledge of/Ability to:

 Have a functional knowledge of up-to-date therapy methodologies.

 TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

 1.   Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).

2.   Prefer experience in providing sensory integration therapy.

3.   Prefer experience in a school setting.
