SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

There is a CURRENT NEED for qualified individuals to serve as substitute (Guest) teachers when regular certificated staff is absent at the Rite of Passage program - Sierra Sage, Yerington NV.

THE POSITION
Guest Teachers must be capable of carrying out predetermined lesson plans and assisting with daily self-help skills.

Sierra Sage Academy is a residential treatment program for young women that provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.  The program serves vulnerable young women who are referred from juvenile courts and social service agencies both locally and across the country. The youth enter the program with a history of abuse, neglect, trauma, substance abuse mental illness, and violence. They graduate from Sierra Sage as educated young women who have  overcome challenges and have demonstrated making healthy choices for themselves and for their future.

QUALIFICATIONS
Possess
(1.) Valid non-emergency California teaching credential authorizing service at the elementary or secondary level;
OR
(2.) Valid Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit based on a baccalaureate degree and CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test). (Assistance in obtaining permit available, contact Beth Reynolds at areynolds@edcoe.org)

Reimbursement will be provided by EDCOE for the 30 day Substitute Permit application fee for qualified substitutes. (initial issuance only).

SPECIAL ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Experience working with at risk students is preferred.

Pursuant to the State Public Health Officer Order of August 11, 2021 affecting all tk-12 public and private school employees, all El Dorado County Office of Education employees and substitutes are required to either provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or participate in weekly COVID-19 testing. The Rite of Passage '7/24/365' residential treatment sites have enabled thousands of at-risk youth to move beyond their troubled home lives and negative former school experiences. Providing dramatic behavioral and lifestyle changes, the Rite of Passage treatment programs provide a unique, proactive setting for education.
