Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting to fill one (1) part-time (3.5 hours) and two (2) full-time (7.5 or 8 hours/day) positions in the role of Preschool Teacher for SOUL Infant Toddler Center at San Diego County Office of Education. We will be establishing a list to fill current vacancies and any other vacancies in the classification within the next six months. Please note: This position is grant-funded by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) General Childcare and Development (CCTR) program and based on year-to-year allocations. Under the direction of the Preschool Specialist, Preschool Teachers will provide supervision, care and instruction to students, as well as prepare and organize classroom activities and materials for the assigned program and age group. Assigned programs may include Migrant Education, State Preschool Program (CSPP) or State Child Care and Development program for infants and toddlers (CCTR). Positions in this classification may be designated as Head Teacher depending upon assignment. SOUL Academy is a seat-based and independent-study program for students in grades 9 through 12 who were referred by probation, social services, or school district officials.

Requirements / Qualifications

This position will be based at SOUL Infant Toddler Center. This position requires ALL of the following: Valid CA Child Development Permit (Teacher, Master Teacher, Site Supervisor, or Director level); or equivalent document. Site Supervisor Permit is preferred. Valid First Aid and CPR (Infant/Child/Adult) certification as issued by an American Red Cross or an American Heart Association-approved program Completion of mandated reporter training per AB 1207 Proof of required immunizations, including measles and pertussis vaccinations. Position requires annual influenza shot or 'opt out' statement.* Valid California Driver’s License* *At time of hire, proof of required immunizations, including measles and pertussis vaccinations, and influenza shot; and a valid California driver’s license to conduct home visits are required. Experience: Two (2) years of experience working with infant, toddler and/or preschool-aged children in a licensed early learning and care center or comparable group child care program; and Education: Sufficient college units required to obtain a Child Development Permit as issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing including 3 semester units related to infant care; or Equivalency: A combination of education and experience equivalent to sufficient college units required to obtain a Child Development Permit including 3 semester units related to infant care, and two (2) years of experience working with infant, toddler and/or preschool-aged children in a licensed early learning and care center or comparable group childcare program.
