Job Summary

San Diego Unified School District, the second largest district in California and one of the top largest urban school districts in the United States, is seeking a well-rounded Director of Due Process Hearings and Mediation. The Director, Due Process Hearings and Mediation will direct, plan, organize and control the intake and handling of due process complaints and other assigned special education compliance matters; serve as the representative in due process legal proceedings. Plan, organize, direct and monitor due process and mediation District services for students with disabilities who require special education services according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and supervise and evaluate assigned certificated and classified personnel.

Salary Grade: 34.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination equivalent to: master’s degree supplemented by seven years of teaching and supervising experience in special education, or as a school psychologist/speech-language pathologist; a special education teaching credential is desirable. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Administrative Services Credential authorizing service in grades K-12. Valid California driver’s license.
