Job Summary

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate, bilingual (Spanish/English) Substitute Teacher to support our K–8 public charter school. This role supports teachers and students—including English Learners, Special Needs, and Gifted students—in an inclusive, biliterate learning environment. Ideal candidates have experience with constructivist teaching methods, project-based learning, restorative practices, classroom management, social-emotional learning, and language acquisition, and are committed to social justice and collaboration. Substitute Teachers at MLC are responsible for fulfilling the goals and objectives of MLC’s educational program as described in its charter. This includes following and implementing lesson plans provided by teachers that are engaging and integrated across subject matter in English and Spanish, utilizing classroom behavior management systems, and ensuring safety and well-being of students. The Substitute Teacher must be committed to preserving the mission, vision, and educational philosophy of the school. This includes collaborating with the school community to maintain a positive learning environment promoting values such as respect, safety, mutual support, motivation, and personal growth. Substitute Teachers reports to the Principal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Follow substitute plan provided by teacher for all academic and social emotional learning experiences. • Collaborate with teachers on the grade level team as necessary and seek input for implementing learning plans. • Take daily attendance per instructions provided by teacher or school administration • Create and maintain effective and safe learning environments for student learning • Follow guidance provided to maintain health and safety of students including COVID-19 protocols for masking, distancing, and sanitizing. • Support student behavior by following systems provided by teacher and utilizing positive discipline strategies to re-engage and

Minimum Requirements: • Valid California 30-Day Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit OR California Teaching Credential • TB Test clearance & DOJ finger printing clearance • Must possess and maintain a valid Infant, Child, and Adult CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
