Pay Range: 15 - $110,532 to $155,496 (salary placement in the salary range will be based upon comparable experience and qualifications; increases are given annually thereafter up to highest step)
Classification Benefits:
The District offers a comprehensive package including holidays, sick, vacation, and personal necessity time; and, insurance benefits which include medical and dental insurance, a vision-care plan, life insurance and dependent life coverage, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, a long-term disability income-protection plan, and a legal plan. All premiums are fully paid by the District. Administrators are provided 24 days of paid vacation leave per year. Summary Description:
To provide technical oversight of critical technology services that serve students and employees; ensure functional, efficient and secure operation of the District’s servers, hardware, operating systems and networking software; perform specific application software development, system analysis and programming as needed; provide leadership in project management; and manage District staff and consultants as directed.
To foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the District; lead by example; actively participate in and support District-wide participatory governance components and activities and other collaborative processes; encourage professional excellence among the staff and promote an organizational culture of customer service, innovation, and quality services.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the Director of Information Technology – Infrastructure and Security.
Exercises direct supervision over assigned professional and technical staff; also coordinates contract vendors and provides technical direction to others outside the department serving on special project committees.

• Objectively evaluate numerous software and hardware systems.
• Operate infrastructure such as Cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service “IaaS” and Platform as a Service “PaaS,” Highly Converged Infrastructure “HCI,” enterprise class Cisco hardware, and clustered virtualized environments.
• Prepare and present complex ideas and processes both orally and in written form.
• Prepare clear, concise and accurate reports, procedures, training documentation and recommendations.
• Program in current generation programming languages.
• Provide information and direction to others with varying levels of information technology knowledge.
• Provide leadership in envisioning, conceptualizing, planning and developing new or improved systems and software for the District.
• Research, and evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations relating to their use within the District.
• Evaluate technical issues and develop cost-effective, effective and reliable solutions.
• Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
• Use independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Understand and effectively and collaboratively work in a complicated multi-college environment, as well as within a system of community college districts.
• Work independently without direct supervision
• Work with and exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the varied racial, ethnic, cultural, sexual orientation, academic, socio-economic, and disabled populations of community college students.
Education and Experience Guidelines:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Education/Training:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in infrastructure, telecommunications, computer engineering, computer science, information technology or closely related field, or commensurate direct work experience in computer systems, operations and/or programming.
Experience:
• Four years of increasingly responsible experience in computer systems analysis, programming and operations support and one year of experience directly managing technical staff.
Preferred:
• Industry certification in Microsoft products and operating systems.
• A master’s degree in a related field or recent evidence of continuing education in area of assignment.
• One year of systems administrator-level experience in a Unix/Linux operating system environment.
• Experience with a multi-user operating system, demonstrated experience in management, operations, programming and end user support in a large-scale information systems environment.
• Experience with enterprise systems, systems administrator-level experience in Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems environments, and systems administrator-level experience in virtualization and cloud technologies.
License or Certificate:
A valid California driver’s license.
