Job Summary
To serve as a Student Support Coach at Portal Schools - an innovative new school model blurring the lines between high school and college. Student Support Coaches will assist Portal’s Head of School and Faculty Coaches the education of students including instructional assistance, tutoring, recordkeeping, classroom safety, and organization, and other related student support to a cohort of students enrolled in grades 9-12.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Belief in the Portal Schools model and non-traditional approaches to student learning - Two years of college credit, or an associate’s (or higher) degree, or progress toward degree (required) - Experience working in independent schools and /or with school-aged students (preferred) - Strong desire to mentor students in a variety of areas in an innovative work setting - Works well: with students, with parents, with a team on collaborative projects - Proficiency in Google Drive, competency-based platforms, and other student facing technology to maximize the student learning experience and efficiency - Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred) - Holds teacher or counselor certification (preferred) - Proficient in at least one of the following subject areas at the high school level (required): ELA, Math - Proficient in at least one of the following subject areas (preferred): Science, Social Studies, other
