Basic Function Under general supervision, to instruct children enrolled in the Child Development Center; to supervise the classroom and playground activities of children; and to do related work as required. Representative Duties a. Prepare lessons and materials for classroom activities. E b. Instruct children in a variety of academic subjects and creative activities. E c. Evaluate students’ progress and assist with Parent Teacher Conferences. E d. Plan and Participate in field trips. E e. Assist in planning, set up and conduct motor development activities. E f. Instruct children in health and safety habits. E g. Prepare and serve snacks and meals to children by assisting in the delivery of the nutritional program including recording point of service. E h. Maintains classroom cleanliness and cleanliness in other areas as necessary to continue program operation. E i. Plan and supervise children’s playground activities. E j. Maintains the naptime environment including setting up cots and necessary bedding, maintaining a quiet and restful environment, interacting with the children, and doing laundry when necessary. E k. Assist students and parents working in the classroom. E l. Changes children’s diapers, clothes and shoes, as needed. Salary: $3,052.00 – $3,902.00 monthly – Successful candidate will start at step 1 except in cases where District deems appropriate. This is a Categorically funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued funding.

Representative Duties
Instruct and supervise children in a variety of academic subjects and creative activities such as language, science, math, music, art and social, physical and motor development activities; instruct children in appropriate health and safety habits. E
Plan and prepare lessons and materials for classroom activities. E
Plan and supervise children’s playground activities and rest periods. E
Serve snacks and meals to children.
Plan and participate in field trips and other special activities. E
Participate in the selection, training and evaluation of teacher aides; provide work direction and guidance to parent and student volunteers and student teachers. E
Maintain classroom in a clean and orderly condition; clean classroom after eating, playing and learning activities. E
Participate in the selection of instructional materials and supplies as needed.
Observe and evaluate student progress and development; prepare special activities for skills that need further attention. E
Maintain a variety of records and files, such as records of attendance and student evaluations. E
Perform a variety of general clerical duties related to the instruction of children; attend staff meetings and attend workshops.

Education and Experience
Job Related and Essential Qualifications
Equivalencies:
Any combination equivalent to: Possession of Children’s Center Permit issued by the State Department of Education and 1 ½ years, per the state requirements, of related classroom teaching experience.
License Certificates/Credentials: Children’s Center Permit issued by the State Department of Education and a valid Red Cross First Aid Certificate, and Ped. CPR and First Aid Certificate from the American Red Cross or other authorized agency.
