Educational Technician
DEFINITION
Under general direction of the school principal to assist classroom teachers in the planning and implementation with students of a specialized program of education and enrichment which relates but is not limited to subjects such as art, music, and science.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This a temporary, hourly position to provide specialized instruction and enrichment activities in and out of classrooms; works closely with classroom teachers to assist with incorporation of objectives of the state-adopted series into the instructional program; assists classroom teachers in the development of lessons and activities to enhance appreciation and knowledge of fine arts and other subjects; provides and directs students with enrichment lessons and activities relating to a specific subject or area of fine art, and performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
· Fundamentals, principles, and theory of the specialized subject;
· Appropriate instructional methodology;
· Objectives of the state-adopted series in a specific subject
Ability to:
· Provide assistance to teachers in planning and implementing instruction;
· Assist teachers in exposing students to a wide variety of educational experiences;
· Incorporate objectives of the state-adopted framework into classroom instruction;
· Instruct students in concepts under direction of a certificated teacher;
· Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
· Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work;
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training, education and experience, which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical entrance background is completion of college level course work in the specialized field and experience providing lessons for students or experience working with student groups.
Note: Incumbent is not required to hold California Teaching Credential.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbent is required to attend periodic evening performances or events and may be assigned flexible work hours. Carry materials from class to class.
