The Board of Education of the Oakley Union Elementary School District, located in Oakley, California, is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position August 2021. McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, in collaboration with the California School Boards Association, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.

The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board has identified the following desired characteristics:
• Passionate/Committed – A passionate educator who is committed to student achievement as integral to the culture of the district and each school. The next superintendent must know the best practices in teaching and learning, be able to implement effective curriculum, assist in the selection of purposeful professional development, and employ systems of assessment that all result in increased student achievement.
• Supportive of staff and HR- The superintendent must have a proven ability to bring people together to build trusting, open, inclusive, and respectful relationships with the Board, administration, staff, students and community. This individual will support all staff and hold everyone to the highest standards as evidence by their personal work ethic.
• Innovator- An innovative leader who has the ability to effectively interact with all district stakeholders in order to continue to move and improve educational initiatives that serve our students and families.
• Effective Communicator/Transparent/Approachable -An effective communicator with written, oral, and 21st Century technology skills. This candidate must be trustworthy, transparent, visible to the schools and community, inclusive, approachable, friendly, and will be courageous, open and willing to hear opinions from all stakeholders whether staff, parents, students or community.
• Advocate for Equity -An educational equity leader and learner who has the moral compass and courage to act upon all decisions through an equity lens. This leader must be passionate, yet emotionally intelligent in the demonstration of intentional and strategic leadership driven by data and research to systemically address educational equity gaps through collaboration, learning, and communication.
