JOB DESCRIPTION – Bilingual Family Liaison 

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the English Learner Coordinator and School Principals, the Bilingual Family Liaison assists limited English speaking parents and students with school procedures and concerns. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Education and Experience) 

High School Education or Equivalent 

Ability to interact effectively in Spanish and English, both written and verbal, with students, staff, parents, and the public 

Successful passage of District Spanish Language Test 

Maintains high level of confidentiality and integrity 

Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community ? Knowledge of basic office procedures 

Able to use a computer for a variety of functions including but not limited to use of the AERIES student information system, Google applications, word processing, and data entry ? Ability to attend evening parent meetings 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION: 

1. Serves as a school liaison to parents of English Learners 

2. Answers questions via the telephone, email and in person 

3. Assists parents in accessing the necessary resources and school programs to assist their children in being successful in school 

4. Explain school policies, rules and regulations in response to inquiries and refer inquiries to appropriate school personnel 

5. Performs a variety of clerical duties in the school office 

6. Helps complete reports to both state and federal agencies within the deadline 7. Provides both oral and written translations when needed at meetings, home visits, in the office, and on the telephone 

8. Other related duties as assigned by the site and district administration in support of the English Language Learner program and other school functions

Physical Requirements 

Ability to exert 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. ? Ability to stoop, climb, stand for long periods of time and perform physical labor, physical mobility and stamina to participate in activities which may be strenuous.
