CLASS TITLE: Family Center Coordinator
Basic Function: Under the direction of the Principal, coordinates operations of the site’s Family Center, including organizing volunteers and community outreach activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate day to day operations of the Site Family Center and oversight of recruitment and training of volunteers
- Maintain accurate records including attendance of volunteers and budget expenses
- Plan, organize and maintain volunteer program and training at school site
- Prepare a variety of materials for volunteer candidates, receive forms and input information; distribute questionnaires to teachers and other school staff to identify needs as necessary
- Collaborate with school staff to recruit, organize, coordinate and train volunteers
- Confer with administration regarding volunteer program activities, events, or other concerns
- Plan and organize outreach for parent trainings to include but not be limited to homework help, language classes etc.
- Organize school site events with parent/teacher group to involve parents, citizens, and volunteers in an effort to promote the Site Family Center
- Work with site administration to plan and organize family events inside and outside of the school day
- Work with site administration to organize charitable opportunities for families to include but not be limited to Thanksgiving Baskets and clothing drives.
- Collaborate, plan, coordinate and support review of Annual Parent Involvement Policy.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from High School Required. Associates Degree and supplemental coursework in the area of human services, education or business preferred
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Bilingual
Must meet NCLB requirements
Valid First Aid Certification
Valid CPR Certification
Valid California Drivers License preferred
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Basic record keeping techniques
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
District rules and procedures relating to the volunteer program.
General needs and behavior of children and adults.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Telephone technique and etiquette
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
Lift or move up to 35 pounds.
Seeing to read and compose written materials.
Standing for extended periods of time.
ENVIRONMENT:
Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
Occasionally works evenings or on weekends.
School or District office environment.
Subject to demanding time lines and constant interruptions.
HAZARDS:
Extended viewing of computer monitor.
Sitting for an extended period of time.
Requirements / Qualifications
1. A completed Edjoin application. 2. Must meet NCLB requirements. 3. A minimum of two (2) Letters of Recommendation 4. Valid California Drivers license preferred 5. Valid First Aid and CPR Certification (online courses not accepted).
