Job Summary
This position requires knowledge of career opportunities in Agriculture Industry. The candidate will also have the ability to use diverse teaching strategies to meet student’s learning styles, abilities, interests, cultural backgrounds, apply classroom management principles that support proper classroom discipline, and ensure that students remain on task. The chosen candidate will work with an employer advisory committee comprised of representatives from business and industry. They will also maintain positive contacts with parents and employers, as well as provide timely and accurate reports of student’s skills, job competencies, and attendance. The successful candidate will also be responsible for marketing the program to potential students with the goal of securing course enrollment. Performs other duties as assigned by the College and Career Readiness Director. Under the supervision and guidance of the NCOE College and Career Readiness Department and school site administration, plan and implement learning activities, which enable high school students to develop knowledge and skills needed for employment or advanced training in the Animal Science Pathway. This is an established pathway at Vintage High School and is full-time. This is a four-year sequence: Agriculture Biology, Animal Science, Veterinary Science and Agriculture and Soil Chemistry. Instructor is advisor for all FFA responsibilities and SAE Projects. Vintage High School is home to a 10-acre working farm, connected to the high school. The farm is home to a school flock of sheep, laying hens and egg-producing quail, along with raised garden beds and a small vineyard. The farm also has the ability to house student SAE projects. Plans are underway to build a new farm near the high school.
