Job Summary/Objective: The role of the Behavior Intervention Implementation Interventionist (BII) is to provide behavioral interventions, including implementation of a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), to support a student’s problem behavior(s) that impedes learning. Per California Ed Code 5 CCR § 3051.23 § 3051.23, personnel who implement behavioral interventions shall deliver services under the supervision of qualified staff who have designed and planned said interventions. A BII service provider must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, and receive the specific level of supervision as required in the student’s IEP. Job Duties: -Implements behavior management and crisis intervention strategies to respond to escalated student behavior, prioritizing safety and adherence to school policies. -Modifies and demonstrates flexibility based planned approaches to meet shifting student needs -Provides proactive behavior support and responds to crisis situations using trained de-escalation techniques and approved safety procedures. -Understands the potential for behavioral and physical escalation and responds calmly and effectively using de-escalation techniques and organizational guidelines -Maintains overall safety of students, never leaving student(s) unattended -Assists teachers in maintaining an environment conducive for learning and encouraging appropriate behavior by the students using a consistent team approach -Monitor student behavior and utilize approved behavior management techniques to redirect and modify behaviors; -Work directly with student to implement their positive behavior support plan in the school setting. -Understand and implement the behavior support plan in the student’s current IEP along with the treatment plan developed and modified by the School Psychologist (BCBA). -Prompt student to engage in appropriate replacement behaviors. -Exhibits resilience and sound judgment when addressing challenging or aggressive behaviors in a school setting -Collect data on behavior for interpretation by School Psychologist (BCBA), Teacher, and other School District staff. -Records/Logs service hours provided to student in daily, after completion of assignment. -Direct all parent inquiries to School Psychologist (BCBA), Provider and Teacher. -Classroom responsibility is to provide ABA service to the assigned student as stated on their IEP. -Data Collection and Documentation of IEP behavior goals. -BII’s are responsible for completing multiple types of data records. -Data must be collected each day as required by Pacoima Charter School. -Attend all required meetings and trainings as assigned. -Other duties as assigned. Competencies & Ability: -1 years’ experience working with children with disabilities -ABA experience - a plus -School setting - a plus -Applicant must be able to fluently read, write and speak in English. -Bachelor's Degree Not Required but Preferred. -Education, training and/or experience working in the field is preferred. Essential Physical Functions: -Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, and bend.
