RECRUITMENT DETAILS: The current opening is 40 hours per week. This position works during the school calendar (184 workdays) with time off during the summer break. The recruitment will be run as Open and Promotional, meaning it is open to current employees, employees on the 39-month re-employment list, and the public. This will result in the creation of two eligibility lists: one priority list for successful internal candidates and a second list for successful external candidates. Only online applications will be accepted: http://agency.governmentjobs.com/downey/default.cfm BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the assigned administrator, plan, organize and implement the approved curriculum for the development of children enrolled in the district preschool program; provide supervision, care and learning activities to preschool-age children in a classroom environment.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: High school graduation Twelve (12) semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development from an accredited college Six (6) months experience in a licensed day-care center or comparable group childcare program. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates issued by an authorized agency, as well as meeting requirements to keep certificates current. Some positions in this class may be required to speak, read, and write in a second designated language. Health and Safety Code Section 1596.7995 requires employees to receive and maintain the following immunizations on a yearly basis: Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles.
