The CHIME Institute is an organization that provides exceptional instruction to all students. We are a public, charter school that is closely linked with California State University, Northridge and LAUSD. We use a co-teaching model and collaborate extensively in grade level teams. Teachers are expected to provide rich, standards-based instruction to kids who have a variety of ability levels. We are a model school and frequently have guests visiting classrooms. Parents play an active role in our school community and support our classrooms in many ways.

Requirements / Qualifications

Resume Transcripts BA in Related Field California Teaching Credential or valid emergency certification issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Letter(s) of Recommendation Mantoux Skin Test or Chest X-Ray within 60 days prior to hire date

Background experience teaching Art. Responsible for planning and instruction of the CHIME Charter School Arts program. Plan and execute an event to honor the curriculum and showcase student skill development. Be creative and proactive. Maintain a safe and orderly classroom. Be patient with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Assess and monitor student progress as it pertains to the program. Maintain complete and accurate student academic and disciplinary records.. Excellent communication skills to include clear and timely communication of standards, achievements, and areas of growth or need to students, parents, and administrators. Model respect, personal responsibility, competence, and honesty in every aspect of the job. Cooperate with all employees: administration, teachers, staff, paraprofessionals, parents and community members in the common endeavor to educate CHIME students in keeping with our vision and mission.

OVERVIEW The Art teacher at CHIME Charter School teaches TK-5th grade Art courses and a 6th-8th Art elective. This is a full time position which meets Monday through Friday with 4-8 classes per day starting at 7:30am and ending at 4:00 pm. Each grade of students is expected to produce visual arts pieces that are connected to the content standards and to the thematic instruction of their respective grade levels when appropriate. This position will be best filled by an energetic, creative, and artistic individual who is excited about the opportunity to immerse young students in the visual arts.
