POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District and Personnel Commission are seeking an enthusiastic, individual to fill a full-time Social Service Assistant position. As a Social Service Assistant, you will act as a liaison with parents and the community in relation to students and families of students with school attendance problems. The position will also provide assistance to school families who may be eligible for various community services. This individual will assist in the implementation of various social service programs. The anticipated vacancy is for a 40-hour per week position. The anticipated working hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM. This 9.5-months/year position comes with paid holidays, sick leave and vacation. The District offers a comprehensive prorated benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school Experience: Any combination equivalent to two years of practical experience in working with community service organizations, or youth groups with an emphasis on helping to counsel children with behavioral, educational or disciplinary problems. Other: Knowledge of the Fullerton School community and other community service organizations. Ability to understand program and school site policies and effectively communicate these to parents; maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with students, fellow employees, teachers and administrative staff. EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill future vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
