GENERAL SUMMARY: The NAACP Youth Council Advisor is responsible for advising and overseeing the activities of the NAACP Youth Council, including actively recruiting scholars for the club and coaching council members in preparation for the Jr. ACTSO competition. The Advisor assists Council Members in setting goals, planning projects and activities, evaluating their own efforts, and advising students on the best methods to utilize to reach specific objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Actively recruit and maintain enrollment of 25 scholars in the Youth Council. • Supervise weekly after school meetings and club activities. • Advise students on the best methods to be employed to reach club objectives. • Welcome and listen to students' suggestions and ideas on co-curricular activities of the school. • Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will attend college. • Coach and prepare council members for participation in the Jr. ACTSO competition. • Coordinate with NAACP officials including, but not limited to attending general membership meetings of the NAACP San Bernardino Branch where the advisor will provide regular updates. • Support the mission, vision, and core values of Fortune School. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Internal position open only to current employees of Hardy Brown College Prep. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. • Valid CA teaching credential required. • Advisor must be a member of the NAACP San Bernardino branch. PHYSICAL ABILITIES • Hearing and speaking to conduct council meetings; exchange information in person, electronically, and on the telephone. • Ability to read printed material and computer screens. • Ability to hear and comprehend speech at normal volumes. • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment. • Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
