PREREQUISITES: Noncommissioned Officers (NCOs) who meet the following prerequisites may apply: • Retired 3 years or less; • Meet Army/AJROTC height/weight/body fat standards, high standards of military bearing, appearance and moral character; • No military or civilian adverse actions, (i.e. Article 15's, Letter of Reprimand, DUI's or other adverse/negative actions); • If still on active duty, must have retirement orders and be within six months of retirement or terminal leave date; • Must have at least 20 years Active Federal Service; o "Gray-Area" National Guard and Reserve members with at least 20 years of creditable service for retired pay and a minimum of 3600 total points for retired pay and who meet all other prerequisites may be considered for AJROTC hard-to-fill-instructor positions. • Served last year of active duty as an Officer/NCO; • Must have an Associate's Degree five years from the date of hire from an accredited college or institution recognized by the Department of Education (DOE) or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); • Must have a Designated Subjects Special Subjects teaching credentials or meet the requirements to apply though the San Diego County Office of Education; • Desired prerequisites: o Baccalaureate degree. o Experience in supply, administration, drill and ceremonies, teaching, and working with youth groups.
