Summer Instructors will have the unique opportunity to participate in the development of our exciting new Counselor in Training (CIT) program. In this role, you will support this program to provide widely applicable leadership skills and camp-specific job training to young adults from 7th -10th grade. CIT Instructors will interact deeply with their curriculum - planning ahead, reflecting daily, viewing improvements as opportunities, and providing feedback for the further development of the CIT program. We value having divergent thinkers who bring various experiences and viewpoints to the table at Galileo. We strongly encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare for and teach three rotations of Galileo curriculum per day in art, science or outdoors to groups of up to 30 campers, typically repeating the lesson with three different groups of campers in the same age group Teach the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers, and capturing feedback to share with curriculum developers Maintain safe environments for all campers and provide leadership and camp spirit to all campers Contribute to and participate in daily camp activities, including check-in and check-out, opening/closing ceremonies and snack & lunch supervision and programming Assist with daily set up and cleanup of camp Summer Instructors will report to the Camp Director and receive professional development and ongoing coaching REQUIREMENTS Genuine love and interest in working with children and/or education Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and exceptional enthusiasm each day Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently Ability to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally Strong organization skills and attention to detail A great communicator with families and guardians CPR/First Aid certified OR willing to become certified by start of camp Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by start of camp to ensure staff and campers are as safe and healthy as possible and to comply with enhanced health and safety protocols EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION College degree preferred but not required Preferred experience with the grade level you will be teaching Preferred experience with the subject you will be teaching Experience working with kids or in a camp setting a plus WORK HOURS AND DATES The camp day runs, on average, 8 hours for Summer Instructors.
