Director - Special Education
Description of Position
Responsible for providing technical assistance in developing, implementing and evaluating the District’s Special Education Program in keeping with guidelines established by the District and other governmental agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare ad process all applications and reports for Special Education Programs. Develop and evaluate the identification of special education pupils. Develop and evaluate due process procedures for pupil assignments to Special Education. Develop and/or provide technical advice on the identification of multiple ways to reach desired student outcomes for the Special Education Program. Select and/or provide technical advice on the selection of the appropriate instructional strategies and materials for given instructional situations. In assistance with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum/Instructional Services develop and implement ongoing staff development activities. Provide technical assistance to the Assistant Superintendent/Instructional Services in implementing procedures for evaluating Special Education personnel and/or Special Education Programs. Provide assistance with the assignment and scheduling of Special Education Staff. Provide liaison among community agencies who provide assistance to Special Education. Provide technical assistance and support with the implementation and monitoring of mainstreaming special education students. Build and maintain communication and community awareness of school level programs. In assistance with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum/Instruction attend and provide district representation at Special Education meetings conducted by Stanislaus County Department of Education. In assistance with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum/Instructional Services develop and implement Board policies and Education Code requirements relating to pupil records. Other duties as assigned.
