The Diocese of San Diego is seeking a qualified and experienced educational leader who is deeply committed to furthering the development of the faith life and academic excellence of a single-classroom preschool through 8th grade parish school located in San Diego, California. The mission of St. Rose of Lima School Community is to empower students to reach their spiritual, academic, social, and physical potential as they live their lives based on Catholic values. The school serves families of varied ethnic, social and economic backgrounds who desire a rich, Catholic education. Recognizing parents as the primary educators of their children the school cooperates with families to achieve spiritual growth and academic excellence. The faculty share with the parents the educational mission of the church. Principal Qualifications:
The Principal shall be:
Religious:
1. A leader/facilitator of the school faith community
2. A practicing Roman Catholic with a strong understanding of the Catholic faith
3. Deeply committed to the development of his/her own faith and that of the parents, teachers and students
4. Understanding and dedicated to the ministry of Catholic education
Professional:
1. Be an active and practicing Roman Catholic
2. Have a minimum of five years successful administrative experience in Catholic Schools
3. Have a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and/or California Administrative Credential
4. Have the ability to verbalize and clarify the philosophy and vision of Catholic School Education based upon relevant church documents
5. Demonstrate leadership ability in past or present educational experiences
Principal Job Description:
The principal has, as delegate of the pastor, immediate responsibility for implementing the philosophy and vision of the school in its regular operation. A school principal has the responsibility to:
- Implement the philosophy of the school in its regular operations
- Administer the total school program of spiritual and academic growth
- Supervise and evaluate: a) Professional personnel; b) Auxiliary support staff; c) Students
- Provide instructional leadership
- Monitor the financial operations of the school (in conjunction with the school business manager) and report to the pastor, the school’s Finance Council, and Diocesan Finance Office
- Cooperate with the School Advisory Board and the PTG Board to promote a development program for the school’s financial stability
Salary:
Negotiated based upon experience, education and qualifications
Candidates will be interviewed by the Director of Schools after application is reviewed and references contacted. Names, résumés and applications will be forwarded to the pastor. All acceptable candidates will be interviewed by The St Rose of Lima School Interview Committee, chaired by the Pastor. (Candidates contacted for interview will travel at their own expense)
