Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   

SUMMARY OF POSITIONS:

Work cooperatively under the direction of the Superintendent’s Office, the District Courier/Package Receiving Clerk is responsible for delivery of mail, packages, documents, supplies, vehicles, deposits, and any other needs to and from all District Schools and the District Office.

 

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:

Superintendent’s Office

 

DUTIES:

ü  Pick up and delivery of packages, inter-department mail, and any other items required to be transported within the District

ü  Assisting with the processing of checking in packages received, including verifying packing slips, quantities, and delivery of packages to various sites after processing

ü  Making bank deposits for various school and District accounts at least twice per week.

ü  Assists in unloading of supplies from District trucks as necessary

ü  Assists with keeping a perpetual District inventory of goods.

ü  Delivering and receiving items from the San Joaquin County Office of Education

ü  Assembly of furniture and delivery as required

ü  Moves and lifts heavy objects

ü  Other related duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

 Has high school diploma or equivalent

 Possesses a valid California Driver’s License, with a clean DMV print out

 Able to repetitively lift between twenty-five (25) and fifty (50) pounds

 Must be able to work with little direct supervision

 Must maintain a negative TB Clearance during time of employment

 Able to complete inventory tasks as assigned

 Must be able to drive District owned van or truck and operate other equipment as directed

 Must be able to be a bonded employee

 Ability to read and follow written directions, labels, packing slips, purchase orders, etc.

 

ABILITY TO:

Operate a District vehicle safely, and in accordance with safe driving practices and provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and maintain good working relationships with a diversity of individuals.


EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

All individuals must have a high school diploma or equivalent, submit a TB clearance, and fingerprint screening.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions requires the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; reaching and handling. Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. The job is performed under significant temperature variations, some hazardous conditions (e.g. traffic and vehicle hazards, noise, etc.), and varying atmospheric conditions.
