EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications to establish a pool for adjunct faculty assignments. Adjunct assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed. This job posting is not for a specific assignment or for a full-time faculty position, but rather for a pool of candidates who may be considered for part-time teaching or allied faculty assignments. Allied faculty include counselors, librarians, work experience faculty and other assignments.

Essential Functions
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance, the Head Women's Softball Coach provides comprehensive leadership over the Women's Softball team in terms of California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Compliance, recruiting, ensuring academic progress toward degree, as well as all other aspects of the intercollegiate sport program for Women's Softball including, but not limited to: planning and executing practice, training, and supervising student-athletes; scheduling athletic contests and arranging transportation; preparing budgets; maintaining athletic equipment, supplies and facilities; and enforcing district, college, and CCCAA rules and student requirements. Coaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend classes, on and off campus responsibilities.
• Provide instruction, mentoring, and coaching to student athletes in the skills, techniques, and competitive strategies necessary for individual and team achievement of athletic standards of performance; evaluate individual and team performance and refine individual and team strategies throughout the season.
• Lead in planning and scheduling competitions, tournaments, and events in collaboration with coaches within and outside of the conference and in concert with academic schedules, District policy, and California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA)/Big 8 Conference regulations; distribute schedules to student-athletes, department personnel, and campus media personnel; collect and report subject sport statistics.
• Establish and maintain safety standards to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities; demonstrate techniques of movement and body mechanics that prevent injuries; provide immediate assistance to injured student-athletes; document injuries and submit recordkeeping reports as required.
• Create a positive atmosphere for the student-athletes; support academic progress, retention, and matriculation of student-athletes through mentoring activities; refer student- athletes to support services, programs, resources, and other professionals as appropriate; maintain confidential student-athlete information.
• Lead in recruiting, in compliance with CCCAA regulations, to identify and attract promising student-athletes; provide referrals to prospective student-athletes to academic and student services as appropriate; maintain contact with prospective student-athletes and provide prompt follow-up to inquiries from potential student-athletes.
• Ensure program compliance within the subject sports program with CCCAA regulations; establish and monitor effective procedures to ensure staff and student athletes comply with such requirements; communicate the disciplinary or corrective consequences of violations as set forth in the provisions of enforcement procedures; report violations of regulations to the Dean.
• Promote interest and attendance at athletic events; lead in fund-raising efforts for the program.
• May serve as a lead worker to other departmental staff.ABILITY TO:

• Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments.

• Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
• Adjunct faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services. Adjunct faculty are typically not required to participate in District or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees, but may be asked to perform these services for additional compensation.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Candidates who are recommended for the pool after committee interviews will be added to the pool for disciplines interviewed and deemed qualified for (screening/interviewing committees will confirm disciplines that candidates are qualified for).
Applications are accepted for adjunct faculty pools on a continuous basis. If the department has an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, they will review applications. If the department does not have an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, applications remain in the queue for consideration until the need arises, or for up to one year. If selected for interview, candidates will be invited to interview with a Screening and Interviewing Committee. The Committee may include representatives consisting of Faculty, Administrators, and Classified Professionals. Students may also participate in the committee selection process as determined by the Screening and Interviewing Committee. For candidates who are recommended for the pool, references will be checked at any point beyond the committee interview. If selected for the pool, candidates remain in the pool for four years.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance (KAD) Department offers a comprehensive, well-rounded program which meets the needs of our varied student population. The department offers both an Associate's of Arts and Associate's of Science degree in Physical Education. A wide variety of activity classes accommodate students ranging in age from high school students to senior adults. Our numerous class offerings provide for a full complement of lecture based courses in kinesiology, activity classes, as well as 20 varsity intercollegiate sports.

Minimum Qualifications
Required for Coaching:Bachelor's Degree AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) Kinesiology (Physical Education) teaching or coaching experience; OR an Associate's degree AND six years of full- time (or part-time equivalent) Kinesiology (Physical Education) Kinesiology (Physical Education) teaching or coaching experience; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Physical Education.
Candidates must have proof of current CPR with AED and First Aid certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Currency of certifications must be maintained with no lapse. (CPR with AED and First Aid Certification must be completed by the start of assignment but is not necessary to qualify for interview.
