DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Education Administrator I of the School Improvement and Support Office (SISO) and the Director of the Student Achievement and Support Division, and working cooperatively with other offices throughout the the California Department of Education (CDE), the Education Programs Consultant works independently on activities that support implementating and monitoring and evaluating K-12 public education programs managed by the SISO. Special emphasis for this position is placed on building local educational agencies capacity to improve school and student outcomes in schools identified for comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) under the Every Student Suceeds Act (ESSA). The approach will focus on matching identified needs to evidence-based intervention/strategies/activities to support more effective school improvement planning, monitoring and evaluation. Supports may include training; creating guidance, resources, and tools; and providing direct assistance and support to the field in developing and implementing CSI plans to improve school and student outcomes. The work takes place within the context of California's state and federal accountability system and system of support.
