Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of site principal and the Head Lifeguard, responsible for ensuring the safety of P.E. swimming class students by preventing and responding to emergencies. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Individual positions may not perform all of the duties listed nor do these examples include all responsibilities of positions in this class. Enforces all pool policies, rules and regulations. E Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies and assists head lifeguard in handling first aid problems. E Administers defibrillator if necessary. E Inspects the pool on a daily schedule and reports unsafe conditions and equipment to the head lifeguard. E Informs head lifeguard when supplies are needed or equipment needs repair or replacement. E Completes records and reports. E Maintains positive public relations at the pool. E Attends all required staff meetings, inservice training and fitness preparation. E Responsible for clean up of the pool area when needed during operational hours. E Assists the head lifeguard in securing all gates and doors at the closing of the facility. E Completes additional duties as assigned by the head lifeguard and/or site administration. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Facility policies, procedures and rules. Leadership qualities and public relations skills. ABILITY TO: Apply lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Work cooperatively with students and staff. Maintain accurate records. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Current certification in the following: • Lifeguard Training • Community First Aid and Safety • CPR for the Professional Rescuer • Fingerprint Clearance SALARY: $10/hour

Requirements / Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Be trained and certified in the following: Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.

The following MUST BE ATTACHED to the application:

  • High School Diploma OR equivalent and Certificates in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED
    • Proof of HS Graduation
