I. JOB DESCRIPTION Under the general supervision of the Director I, Child Development, provide overall educational leadership at various program sites. Responsible for the planning, coordination, direction, and overseeing the educational and school readiness aspects of the Early Head Start, Head Start, and State Preschool Programs, including the referral and coordination of disabilities services; enforcement of rules and regulations; supervision, and evaluation of personnel; ensure ongoing programmatic review; monitoring; training and technical assistance; and ensure all children are school ready and prepared to transition; and performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or closely related field and a valid California Child Development Program Director’s Permit and infant toddler units Three years management experience involving staff supervision Experience working with children ages birth to five years (Early Head Start and Head Start) Three years of teaching experience in early childhood education Must maintain CLASS Observer Reliability and ECERS Standing (can be obtained within 12 months of employment) Knowledge of theories and principles of child growth, development, early childhood education and family support, including developmentally appropriate practice and working with children with special needs Experience working with children and families from a diverse background Knowledge and ability to interpret and navigate application of Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Title V, Community Care Licensing (Title 22), Part C and IDEA, and Developmentally Appropriate Practice Knowledge of early child development curriculum (e.g. Parents as Teachers (PAT), Creative Curriculum) and assessment tool (e.g. Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) Assessment tool Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with large and small groups; and make presentations to large groups Computer experience including data entry Ability to work as a member of a team where diverse program content must be well integrated to provide quality services Skill in collecting, desegregating, and analyzing data, preparing complex reports and monitoring progress and draw meaning and conclusions from quantitative and/or qualitative data Valid California Driver’s License III. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bilingual in English and one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese.
