Job Summary
Flintridge Sacred Heart, a Catholic, Dominican, independent, college preparatory high school for young women, is seeking a full-time chemistry and biology teacher. Successful candidates are enthusiastic, creative, committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion and teach using active-learning modalities. The teacher must be willing to follow a pre-defined curriculum in their first year, prioritize safety in the lab and complete a safety certificate within their first two months. We are looking for a teacher who conveys a love for science, eagerly participates in the school community outside the classroom, and supports the mission of the school. Flintridge Sacred Heart educators are members of a dynamic learning environment. They are engaged in a 1:1 MacBook program, curriculum/programming redesign and mapping, and teacher-driven professional learning communities. In addition to developing and delivering an intentionally designed curriculum dedicated to teaching and learning in a supportive and collegial atmosphere, our faculty shares out on best practices and instructional technology strategies during department meetings, small group learning sessions and visits to each other’s classrooms.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience requirements:
- BA or BS in Chemistry or Biology or related discipline
- Minimum 1-year high school teaching experience in either biology or chemistry or both
- Experience with instructional technology
A more competitive candidate will have:
- Experience teaching a wide variety of course levels
- Experience teaching chemistry
- Experience with innovative teaching strategies; such as POGIL, inquiry labs and/or case studies.
