Summary: The job of a teacher was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

General Position Description: Under direction of the Superintendent/Principal, the
7/8 Teacher shall assume responsibility for the implementation of students'
educational plans as well as serve as an integral member of the team which performs student
assessments, designs instructional plans and reviews student programs. The Kindergarten
Teacher provides individual, small group and whole class instruction as appropriate according to
Federal, Master Plan and school-level requirements for individuals with exceptional needs.
Experience working with students with autism preferred.
Qualifications: Appropriate General Education credential required. Department of Justice
fingerprint clearance must be completed prior to the first day of employment at a cost of $62 to
the employee.
Salary: Placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule based on years of experience, (up to
Step 5). A stipend of $500 for a Master’s Degree.
Official transcripts will be required upon hire.
Benefits: Health and welfare benefit package for employee and family.
Hours of Monday through Friday, (Schedule TBD)

General Position Description:
The 7/8 Teacher shall report directly to the designated program administrator and
assume responsibility for the implementation of students' educational plans as well as serve as
an integral member of the team which performs student assessments, designs instructional
plans and reviews student programs.
Examples of Duties:
In accordance with the policies, rules, and regulations established by the Board of Education,
the 7/8 Teacher shall be responsible for the execution of the following duties and
responsibilities:
1. Conducts student assessment, designs individualized educational plans, implements
appropriate instructional strategies and monitors progress on assigned students.
2. Provides instruction to students using special techniques, equipment and materials as
specified in the IEP and directs the work of classroom aides and volunteers as
necessary.3. Assists in coordinating the various instructional related services provided to students
while maintaining significant responsibility for each student's overall educational
program.
4. Establishes and maintains a classroom atmosphere and environment which responds
to the needs of each student.
5. Administers various assessment instruments to measure progress, determine
placement and to update educational plans.
6. Provides instruction in the areas of personal hygiene, social skills, physical
development, safety skills, academic skills and vocational awareness skills depending
upon age-group and needs of students.
7. Confers with professional staff regarding behavior management planning and
implements appropriate behavior modification techniques and classroom engineering
principles in order to produce desirable individual student behaviors.
8. Selects, adapts, constructs, checks and maintains instructional equipment and
supplies appropriate to the program area, needs of students and safety concerns.
9. Records student progress accurately and timely.
10. Provides a positive learning environment that stimulates student learning and
maintenance of skills.
11. Supports the policies and programs of the Loleta Elementary School District and
performs assigned duties consistent with school, District and SELPA policies, regulations
and procedures.
12. Maintains professional competency by actively engaging in employer directed
in-service activities and other similar opportunities provided to staff.
13. Cooperatively engages in the professional evaluation process with supervisor to
ensure on- going growth and competence.
14. Effectively communicates with staff, parents, agencies and community members.
15. Attends regular and special staff meetings and actively participates as a member of
the educational team.
16. Responds effectively to the input from and coordinates tasks with District/school
personnel as required by assignment.
17. Performs other related duties.
Qualifications:
1. Possess and maintain a valid California General Education Credential or MS to teach
individuals with Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe needs.
2. Eligibility for NCLB Certificate of Compliance and Certification to instruct English
language learner students required.
3. Demonstrate competence in communicating effectively with children and parents, staff
members
and representatives of other agencies.
4. Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet classroom objectives.
5. Ability to inspire and motivate the young learner and engage family support.
6. Ability to create and maintain effective learning environments for students.
7. Ability to plan instruction and design learning experiences for all students.8. Ability to apply classroom technology.
9. Demonstration of development as a professional educator.
10. CPI Certification.

Some degree of physical ability and exertion is required of this position. Over time, the physical
demands of any position are subject to change. Depending upon the particular assignment, the
7/8 Teacher could be expected to:
1. stand, sit and/or move about for sustained periods.
2. communicate effectively in person and via telephone and other electronic media to
individuals
and groups of varying sizes.
3. exercise physical control over students who are acting out and/or offer physical
assistance to
students who might themselves be physically impaired.
4. conduct instructional programs within pre-designated periods and time schedules.
5. maintain an appropriate personal demeanor during periods of heightened stress
created by
outside factors not always within the ability of the Teacher to control at the time.
