James Lick’s schoolwide learner outcomes are centered in four pillars:

Agency: Asking for help, participating in workshops or after-school tutoring, using technology to find answers.

Collaboration: Students working together to solve a real-world problem as part of a larger project.

Communication: the ability to communicate orally and through written language to demonstrate understanding to justify an opinion, or to explain a complex process.

Growth Mindset: Students setting and self-monitoring their learning goals and using their agency to achieve those goals.

As a member of the New Tech Network, James Lick staff and students are part of student-centered high school that uses engaging, project-based learning supported by the seamless use and application of technology to prepare students for success in college and today’s world of work.

James Lick maintains a culture that promotes trust, respect, and responsibility.  Students and teachers alike have ownership of the learning experience and their school environment. Working on projects and in teams, students are accountable to their peers and acquire a level of responsibility similar to what they would experience in a professional work environment.
