Art teacher with a focus on social and climate justice arts development. Character, personality, and a high degree of cultural and linguistic competence so you can successfully build relationships with racially and ethnically diverse staff, students, and community are a requirement for success in this position. A demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of community groups and organizations, and colleagues to develop a strong Climate and Social Justice Visual Art program is preferred. An Art teacher who is a team builder, creative problem solver with a deep understanding of the connections between Art Literacy, Math, Social Justice, Liberation, and Educational Equity is ideal. We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, and visionary teacher who is committed to participating in the creation of a transformational school system based on culturally and linguistically sustaining pedagogy, equity, inclusion, social & environmental justice, project based learning, arts integration, lesson study, cycle of inquiry and professional learning communities, and a world language program with an inclusive SPED model. In responding to the first desegregation order in CA in 50 years we have unified our two district schools in to one PK-8 school with an upper and lower campus. It is our intent for this school to be a blue print for integration and transformative education that removes the intersectional barriers to education for BIPOC, Low income, English Language Learner, Homeless and Foster Youth, and students with special needs. You will teach two periods of middle school art by students that have chosen art as an elective and teach art to student K-5 on our lower campus.
