*This position will start at a beginning rate of up to $17/hr. POSITION SUMMARY Under general supervision, perform paraprofessional instructional activities in the classroom and outside play area; assist in the conduct of intensified learning experiences for individual or small groups of students in assigned programs or grades/subjects; supervise students; perform supportive clerical tasks for students and school personnel; help maintain a positive, safe and developmentally appropriate class setting in accordance with all relevant laws, policies and procedures. This position may be assigned to a variety of school settings. Incumbents are expected to learn student supervision and instructional techniques for the specific area of school service to which assigned, such as special education, special needs, ELL, bilingual, general classroom, physical education and campus assignments. Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School diploma or GED and one of the following: completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (45 semester units); obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness) Minimum one (1) year paid experience working with children in a group setting; may require experience with specific ages Knowledge of basic concepts of child growth and development; student behavior management strategies and techniques; Ability to demonstrate understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups; communicate effectively in oral and written form in English and a second language, as required by the assignment; Demonstrated passion for children and their care and development REQUIRED OF ALL EMPLOYEES Aspire to be a Christian role model in accordance with 1 Timothy, chapter 3 Maintain a consistent relationship with God, live a Biblical lifestyle that honors Christ Be personally committed to the ideals, values and mission of WOL Ability to appropriately handle confidential information; refraining from gossip Ability to resolve issues according to Matthew 18:15 Be/become a Member at either Water of Life or a church with a similar Statement of Faith, and regularly attend its weekend services Satisfactory “live scan” fingerprint and child abuse index clearance by the Department of Justice Current CPR and First Aid training Current TB test with negative results
