We service students and hire in most California counties, except the following 16 counties: Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, Tehama, Glenn, Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Alpine, Tuolumne, Mariposa and El Dorado.

Requirements / Qualifications

ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home-based instruction to TK-12 students in California. We use Stride curriculum as the basis for instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Newrow platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to log attendance, attend instructional sessions, and complete coursework daily. In the DCA @ CAVA, we believe in collaboration across content areas and embrace a Project-Based Learning model. The WBL Specialist requires thorough knowledge of employment techniques, methods, and procedures used for effective job search to match students’ abilities and skills to work based learning opportunities. The WBL Specialist will need to be informed and aware of the work force development trends locally and throughout the state while also being familiar and knowledgeable about the policies, procedures and rules governing student employment. They will meet with and communicate with students, families, and partners daily via telephone, web conferencing, and email to provide support and instruction with training and to facilitate discussions in individual and small group settings. The WBL Specialist will work to create and develop partnerships with business and industry as well as colleges and universities, and any other relevant entities, to generate and grow the work-based learning database opportunities for students. The WBL Specialist will prepare professional correspondence daily to communicate in written and verbal format conveying technical concepts skillfully and accurately while maintaining the confidentiality of students, families, and WBL partners. The WBL Specialist will build positive and encouraging relationships with the students and the WBL partners and will accurately monitor attendance, progress, professionalism.

Also help with engagement on and off site to ensure students remain accountable and engaged and WBL partners remain involved and pleased ensuring every partnership remains solid for current and future students. The WBL Specialist will be required to travel and participate in student events, meet with business and industry partners and follow-up and check- in with both, as necessary. The WBL Specialist will support and proctor state testing as needed. HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: These are full time positions working Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. As the California Virtual Academies are public charter schools and this is a public school position, these are set contracted hours and you must be available/working during these hours while under contract with California Virtual Academies. We do provide training for all programs and we have a great staff to serve as your support system. We do participate in CalPERS.
