Basic Functions:
Under supervision of the Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources and Pupil Support or designee, and in collaboration with the High School Principal, coordinates and manages all aspects of the Wellness Center. Facilitate personnel and peer support services for the purpose of increasing access to mental health services for the FUSD Wellness Center. Coordinate the integration of disparate services from a variety of funding sources and organizations to unify care coordination and service provision through one centralized program. General services provided virtually and/or on school campuses include but are not limited to: suicide prevention; drop-out prevention; placement assistance; and service planning for students in need of ongoing services; and outreach to high-risk youth, including foster youth, youth who identify as LGBTQ+, and youth who have been expelled or suspended from school. The coordinator must work effectively with people representing diverse, perspectives and needs, including all genders.
Representative Duties:

All tasks and duties are essential to this position:
- Manage the Wellness Program activities associated with the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) Wellness Center MOU 2020-2024 Communication Plan, oversee the awareness campaign, coordinate outreach, screenings, provide linkage to services, and collect and submit data reporting. Wellness Coordinator will work in a virtual or physical Wellness Center space during hours of operation and be available to Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) staff for training a minimum of 15 hours per quarter.
- Conduct/facilitate Wellness Peers trainings, meetings, and facilitate students and family outreach. Outreach may be provided to all referred students, with planned programs for families, primary care providers, employers, and others. Education will be planned by the VCOE Operations Specialist but coordinated virtually and/or on the school site by the Wellness Coordinator, including collecting education data. The Wellness Coordinator will also provide direct education to student, family, and other audiences through lunchtime get-togethers and special events.
- Provide mental health initial screenings, crisis intervention referrals, and other early intervention services. The Wellness Coordinator will screen referred students and will provide linkages to the VCBH Wellness Program Clinician and CSC for further evaluation, interventions, short-term treatment, crisis intervention, and linkages to mental health resources.
- Assist in facilitating linkages and ensuring access to school-based and community-based services such as LBGTQ+ support groups, VCOE foster youth services, and academic counseling support. Wellness Coordinators will facilitate care coordination between school employees (administrators, teachers, nurses, school psychologists, behavior specialists, counselors) and Wellness Center providers.
- Complete and submit district-level Data Collection Tool quarterly to the VCOE Operations Specialist. First quarter data collection reporting will begin January 1. 2021 with final data collection on December 1, 2024. Reporting will be submitted by the 10th of each month following each quarter. Final quarterly reporting will end December 1, 2024.
- Annually, identify, recruit, and train up to ten (10) students per school, annually to serve as the Wellness Peers in order to build capacity for increased support.
- Collect data with the Data Collection Tool in compliance with the MHSOAC Wellness Center MOU 2020-2024.
- Collect data and monitor center contacts and activity to analyze and address future needs for service, referrals, and resources.
- Ensure Wellness Center staff meets with Wellness Peers twice per month for ongoing training.
- Attend contract meetings between VCOE and Districts.
- Provide staff, students and parents referrals appropriate to wellness related services.
- Establish good rapport with students, parents and staff.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Have knowledge of prevention practices of health and mental health, and alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention; word processing, spreadsheet technologies, and database software applications; diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of participating students and families; operation of a computer and data entry techniques.
- Experience in alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention; health; or mental health related field is desired.
- Work effectively with a wide range of clientele including students, parents, school staff and community members.
- Evaluate problems and develop options and solutions.

- Communicate effectively with students, parents, district personnel, community – oral and written.

EDUCATION, LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Certified Social Worker License (CWW) or Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW)
- California driver’s license and the ability to travel to other sites and locations throughout the district and county
- TB and Fingerprint Clearance
- First Aid, CPR, AED is required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.
Incumbent may be required to attend periodic evening meetings/events.
Incumbent may be required to travel within and out of the District to attend meetings.
Performance of position duties/responsibilities is subject to occasional standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and/or stooping, while performing
duties requiring lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, moving, and/or positioning objects weighing up to 10 lbs. frequently and up to 25 lbs. occasionally; the position is subject to exercising continuous manual dexterity (i.e., coordinated and/or precise movement of hands, arms and fingers) throughout a work shift to operate computer equipment and peripherals. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the phone. Ability to maintain physical condition necessary for sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time.
