Noncredit VOCE - Driving Truck Instructor - Part-Time

We are searching for an experienced Noncredit VOCE - Driving Truck Instructor - Part-Time at our Santa Maria Campus facility.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Noncredit VOCE Truck Driving Instructor (Part Time)

 

Allan Hancock College is accepting applications for noncredit part-time instructors to teach noncredit Vocational Education (VOCE) courses in support of the Commercial Truck Driving certificate program in the Community Education Division. Classes may be held during weekends and/or evenings. Bilingual English-Spanish preferred, but not required. The anticipated start date is June 2021.

 

Location: Community Education is seeking instructors to teach Commercial Truck Driving VOCE courses in a variety of off-campus locations in the Santa Maria and Lompoc areas.

 

ANTICIPATED NEED

 

Community Education is looking for part-time instructors who can teach the following two courses: VOCE 7800-Commercial Truck Driving: Preparation and VOCE 7801-Commercial Truck Driving: Behind the Wheel Training.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum Qualifications to Teach VOCE courses:

 

• A bachelor's degree and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught, OR

 

• An associate degree, and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught, OR

 

• Possession of a full-time clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter, OR

 

• For courses in an occupation for which the district offers or has offered apprenticeship instruction, the minimum qualifications for noncredit apprenticeship instructors in that occupation, as specified in Section 53413.

 

Criteria for Equivalency when minimum qualifications are not met:

 

• Licensure or certification in a vocational area where the license or certification requires specified hours of formal instruction and four years of professional experience in the area of specialization in lieu of formal college preparation, and

 

• Evidence of attaining coursework or experience equal to the general education requirements as outlined in Title 5 section 55063.

 

In its desire to select outstanding faculty members from the largest possible pool of qualified applicants, Allan Hancock College recognizes candidates may have attained expertise in a discipline through a variety of means. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged by the district as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for this position. Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications are encouraged to complete the equivalency form and provide appropriate documentation of their qualifications.

 

SALARY

 

Lecture Rate: $43.05 to $49.60 per hour depending upon education and experience.

 

SCREENING PROCESS

 

A committee will screen all applications. Meeting minimum qualifications does not assure a candidate an interview. Therefore, it is important that the application be thorough and detailed. Applicants will be assessed on the breadth and depth of education, training, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities. A limited number of applicants will be invited for an interview at the college at their own expense. All interviewed candidates may be asked to complete job related exercises. The district reserves the right to cancel any appointment or to reassign the area of service, extend time limits, reinitiate, or withdraw the recruitment/selection process at any time. Final candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
