Saint Simon Parish School was established in 1961 and remains a leader in innovative Catholic elementary education in Silicon Valley. The school’s focus is on educating students to develop strong minds and compassionate hearts. There is a clear community atmosphere at the school. St. Simon is blessed with a significant student support and technology infrastructure, as well as numerous extra-curricular opportunities. The school is a ministry of the Parish, and staff work closely together. The pastor is a strong supporter of the school's ministry as integral to the mission of the Parish.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Serve as a full-time instructor of the curriculum to a kindergarten class, including the supervision of an instructional assistant.
• Be supportive of a faith-filled Catholic environment in both words and actions, including working with the parish collaboratively.
• Assist with instruction for students with diverse learning needs, including accelerated learners, and have a willingness to implement the necessary accommodations in order to help them be successful.
• Possess knowledge of the California curriculum and content standards, as well as have demonstrable knowledge of Common Core Standards (including CA Common Core) and experience with pacing guides.
• Have a genuine openness to grow and adapt effectively to feedback in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Be proficient in integrating technology into their curriculum regularly to enhance student learning.
• Cover assigned staff duties, including recess and lunch supervision, as well as other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the school administration.
• Assist with standardized test administration and Diocesan assessments under the direction of the school administration.
• Maintain absolute confidentiality over student and institutional information.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree is required, and a masters is preferred;
• A valid CA teaching credential is preferred
• Experience in working with elementary school children, especially having an understanding of developmental stages; and
• Have a strong work ethic and a passion for their chosen career in education.
