Primary Responsibilities
- Create and foster a safe and supportive learning environment where all students feel heard
- With the support of administration, develop thematic curriculum and related content that integrates English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Art
- Use provided curriculum to inform planning of Math instruction (level to be determined)
- Implement lessons, activities, and instruction while adapting to the intellectual, physical, and social-emotional needs of students as they arise
- Maintain organizational systems in physical and digital space
- Regularly use and maintain documentation of multiple forms of assessment to gauge student learning and inform next steps in teaching
- Work collaboratively with a co-teacher and other staff members to develop the program
- Attend staff meetings and actively engage with professional development opportunities
- Plan and organize immersion events, fieldwork, guest speakers, and overnight trips
- Prepare progress reports and report cards
- Attend parent-teacher meetings as scheduled and as needed to support student learning
Requirements
- Prior middle school (or related) teaching experience
- Passing a criminal background check upon hire
- Proficiency with technology (GSuite in particular)
