Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and foster a safe and supportive learning environment where all students feel heard
  • With the support of administration, develop thematic curriculum and related content that integrates English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Art
  • Use provided curriculum to inform planning of Math instruction (level to be determined)
  • Implement lessons, activities, and instruction while adapting to the intellectual, physical, and social-emotional needs of students as they arise
  • Maintain organizational systems in physical and digital space
  • Regularly use and maintain documentation of multiple forms of assessment to gauge student learning and inform next steps in teaching
  • Work collaboratively with a co-teacher and other staff members to develop the program
  • Attend staff meetings and actively engage with professional development opportunities
  • Plan and organize immersion events, fieldwork, guest speakers, and overnight trips
  • Prepare progress reports and report cards
  • Attend parent-teacher meetings as scheduled and as needed to support student learning

Requirements

  • Prior middle school (or related) teaching experience
  • Passing a criminal background check upon hire
  • Proficiency with technology (GSuite in particular)
