Job Summary
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, clean classrooms, offices, cafeterias and other facilities of an assigned school during an assigned shift; perform minor repair and maintenance and assure the security of school during assigned hours.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES NEED THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standing for extended periods of time. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching. Pushing and pulling cleaning equipment. Lifting and moving heavy furniture. Climbing ladders and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to replace lights in high places.
ELIGIBILITY LIST An eligibility list will be created from this recruitment and will be good for one year or until the list is exhausted. It will be used as follows: 1.To fill the current vacancy, 2.To fill future permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list; 3.To create a list of substitutes for the current class and other related classes. Substitutes work on an as-needed basis to fill in for absent employees. EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applications must be submitted by the deadline. The examination process will include the following:
1. Screening of applications to determine those applicants who meet the minimum requirements. Those individuals meeting the minimum requirements will move to the written exam.
2. Qualified candidates will be notified via email and invited to participate in the examination. Following is the examination information:
a. Written exam Date: TBD.- Multiple Choice Exam, weight 100%. A multiple-choice written examination to evaluate the applicant's job-related knowledge will be administered. The exam consists of different categories based on classification such as grammar, spelling, punctuation, basic math, reading comprehension, safety, and principles, and/or practices of the trade or profession. The passing score is 70%.
No candidate may be admitted to the examination without the “applicant’s” authorization email/invitation. Applicants successful in the examination will be placed on an Eligibility List good for up to one year, first by employment status followed by rank order of their examination scores plus seniority credit/veterans points where applicable.
If fewer than three eligibles are available the appointing authority may choose to appoint any of them or it may request a new examination. Merit Rule 50.200.4 (B)

Any permanent classified employees of the District who voluntarily resigns from his permanent position may be reinstated or reemployed by the Board of Education of the District within 39 months after his last day of paid service and without further competitive examination, to a position in his former classification as a permanent or limited-term employee in a related lowers class in which the employee formerly had permanent status.

A.Names shall be certified for appointment from employment lists in the sequence that follows:
1.Automatic appointments to Layoff Reemployment list candidates, until exhausted;
2.Promotional eligibility list (three ranks);
3.If less than three ranks of Promotional candidates are available, the remaining rank(s) are to be obtained from the Open eligibility list.
B.In addition, the following candidates will be eligible to interview for the vacancy(s): “Request to Transfer” requests meeting at least one of the following criteria:
1.A classification within the same range or higher in a related classification; or
2.An employee who has taken a voluntary demotion being restored to his former class or to a related lower class, within 39 months -Rule #60.200.3.

Operate a variety of custodial equipment including a floor stripper, buffer, carpet shampooer, vacuum cleaner, and small power and hand tools.

Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Perform heavy physical labor.
Work cooperatively with others.
