Requirements / Qualifications
BASIC FUNCTION: Analyze, test, install, maintain and troubleshoot centralized computer systems, programs and software; meet with management and users to implement new or change existing systems and to create and maintain forms, databases and reports; design documentation and provide training in the proper operation of computer systems and applications; lead and manage various projects; take primary responsibility for new district-wide system installation. KNOWLEDGE OF: Centralized information system management. Current programming languages. Computer system documentation and training techniques. Project management. Data conversion techniques. Technical aspects of field of specialty. Operation of mainframe, network and personal computer systems. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. ABILITY TO: Analyze, test, install, maintain and troubleshoot centralized computer systems, programs and software. Lead and manage various projects. Provide technical user support assistance. Create and maintain forms, databases and reports based on user needs. Prepare and maintain records and reports. Operate mainframe, network and personal computer hardware and software systems. Troubleshoot and resolve complex mainframe problems. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Plan and organize work. Meet schedules and timelines. Work independently with little direction. Analyze complex problems accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS The following MUST BE ATTACHED to application on or before the deadline:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent OR
- Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Education Degree EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or related field, and one year experience as a Systems Analyst or increasingly responsible experience in mainframe computer installations, operations, troubleshooting and repair work. Microsoft Office User Specialist Certificate, Systems Analysis Certificate or other job related certificates/degrees desirable. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted. A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview. Valid California driver’s license.
