EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF RISK MANAGEMENT
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Associate Superintendent Business Services, plan, organize, and implement of the overall operation of the Risk Management Department.
Provide direction in the monitoring of the expenditure of funds assigned to be utilized in the various programs in order to ensure maximum effectiveness and legal compliance. Provide leadership in the administration of the Worker Worker’s Compensation Program as required by law.
REPRESENTATIVE:
Plan, coordinate, and manage the District’s Risk Management program. E
Supervise the administration of the Worker’s Compensation claims and liability program. E
Supervise the administration of the loss control and safety programs for the District and supervise the Safety Inspection program. E
Coordinate the administration of the self-insured retention claims on property. E
Administer subrogation and recoveries on District’s behalf. E
Consult with Human Resources on pre-employment physical results and ADA compliance
issues. E
Administer the monitoring of the Air Quality Control District broadcasts and initiate action as required. E
Provide the assurance that the insurance programs are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. E
Supervise the maintenance of a central file of insurable values and records of losses, loss ratios, loss reserves, insurance files, reports, and correspondence. E
Provide the necessary leadership to ensure District compliance with OSHA regulations. E
Supervise the Director of Risk Management, and oversee the office staff. E
Perform related duties as assigned.

ABILITY TO:
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Analyze risk and make proper judgments and recommendations.
Establish, implement, and evaluate long-range plans.
Work with attorneys and manage litigation.
Manage large case loads.
Work with District leadership staff and claimants.
Prepare comprehensive reports.
Prepare procedure manuals.
Perform the essential functions of the job.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in public administration or closely related field and four years’ experience in management, investigation and adjustment of California Worker’s Compensation certificate: valid California driver’s license.
