Requirements / Qualifications

Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks an Automotive Instructor to teach and develop courses in Automotive. This is a full-time non-tenure track academic position. Full-time faculty are typically assigned 15 lecture hours (or the equivalent in laboratory, studio or related activities) of student contact time per week. Office hours are also required. Faculty are expected to participate in college governance through departmental, instructional and other required campus meetings as well as Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus and off-campus classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Bachelor's degree (*attach transcripts); AND 2. Two (2) years of professional experience; AND 3. ASE Master Automobile Technician Certification (ASE A-1 through A-8); AND 4. ASE G-1 Certification (Auto Maintenance and Light Repair); AND 5. Knowledge of the automotive repair industry as demonstrated by employment as an automotive technician; OR satisfactory completion of technical training workshops and seminars within the past seven years; AND 6. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff *** Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph **** SUBSTITUTIONS Substitutions for meeting the education requirement of this position are allowed as follows. 1. An Associate's degree; AND 2. Six (6) years of professional experience DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Two years (2) of successful Community College teaching experience in automotive technology courses 2. Professional experience in: a. the development, maintenance, and evaluation of Community College level curriculum for an automotive program b. community outreach and in the development of articulation agreements with District high schools c. administrating an AYES occupational internship program d. the administration of a Community College automotive technology program 3. Five years (5) of professional experience as a bumper-to-bumper automotive technician, preferably on a high-line or luxury brand
