El Rio Community School, a public, independent charter school, uses the Waldorf approach to teach Common Core state standards. We are looking for an enthusiastic, warm teacher for 2024-2025 for a first grade teacher that will potentially loop with the students through fourth grade, sharing content knowledge, social-emotional support, and a joy for learning with the children. We offer a competitive compensation package, small class sizes, paid summer training and ongoing professional development, planning periods during the work day, and the opportunity to be part of shaping an innovative, growing school in Northeast Los Angeles, which includes frequent frequent field trips into nature and to sites related to the curriculum. We seek candidates with warmth, patience, enthusiasm, joy, and the ability to use Waldorf methods to make the curriculum and naturally embedded state standards come alive for the children. El Rio Community School, a new public, independent charter school that opened in September of 2020, offering standards-based instruction via developmentally focused, arts-integrated methods, and informed by the principles of public Waldorf education, seeks two 1st grade teachers for the 2021-22 school year.
Grades teachers at El Rio loop with their classes, with the opportunity to teach the same group of children in grades 1-4 and 5-8. Our class size will be 24 students. Teachers have the opportunity to use their own creativity to shape the curriculum, using Waldorf methods to deliver state standard based content that is responsive to the needs of the students in each class.
El Rio will offer a competitive compensation package, training and support, as well as the opportunity to be part of shaping an innovative new school in Northeast Los Angeles. Our educational program includes one day a week spent in nature.

Qualifications for teachers:
Bachelor’s Degree
California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential/eligibility
Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred.
Experience in Waldorf kindergarten/class teaching preferred.
