For summer 2021, UC Berkeley's ATDP is looking for an experienced instructor to teach Geometry to high school students in an accelerated 6-week program.
About ATDP. The Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP) is UC Berkeley's summer program for high-achieving students from Kindergarten to completing grade 11. For over thirty-five years, ATDP has been offering challenging summer classes in a wide variety of disciplines. About. ATDP has detailed lesson plans from past classes of Geometry that can be used as-is or modified. Teachers will be paid through UC Berkeley's payroll department. ATDP will be offering Geometry in its Secondary Division program:
• ATDP's Secondary Division (students are mostly from the Bay Area)
Program dates: June 22 – July 32, 2021 (6 weeks)
Monday/Wednesday/Friday (18 class meetings)
Daily schedule: 8:30 am - 12:00 pm (AM class) OR 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm (PM class)
Location: Online via Zoom, Learning Magament System (e.g., Canvas, Google Classroom) setup provided
Pay: $3800 per class session
Geometry course description
This fast-paced course completes all topics of first year Geometry: points, lines, planes, and angles; deductive reasoning; parallel lines and planes; congruent triangles; quadrilaterals; inequalities in geometry; similar polygons; right triangles; circles; constructions and loci; areas of plane figures; areas and volumes of solids; coordinate geometry; transformations; and an introduction to trigonometry. Because the course covers a full year of Geometry, students spend at least eight hours outside of class preparing for each class session.
This course is A-G approved; meets full-year Geometry subject requirement for application to the University of California.

A bachelors degree or equivalent international degree at the time of application. Preferred Qualifications: U.S. teaching credential or M.A. or equivalent credential/degree in related content area at the time of application. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching practice and experience in the subject matter field with diverse populations. Minimum 3 years experience working in a related field. Experience teaching K-12 academically advanced students in proposed subject matter. Experience developing and implementing student-centered or project-based curricula that successfully engages students and facilitates learning. Experience teaching distance learning courses using synchronous and asynchronous formats.

Salary: These are one, two, or three-month appointments. Instructor, co-Instructor, and Instructional Associate salaries are associated with number of units and typically range from $1100 - $3800 per course.
