Job Summary

California Private Teachers is seeking a Private Teacher for a family living in Beverly Hills, California. The Private Teacher will be responsible for the academics and homeschooling of (4) primary grade level students for the remainder of the 2020/2021 school year. The children were previously enrolled in a private school; however, the parents believe that a homeschool setting is best suited for their children at this time. Ideal candidates for this unique opportunity will have experience in an elementary school setting and a keen interest in social emotional learning. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices in the classroom are essential to this position. While it is important that the children keep up with the academic standards, the family is looking for someone who can support the children’s creative, critical, and independent thinking through the use of project- and inquiry-based lessons. The parents described the ideal teacher as someone who is gentle, warm and loving, patient, and open to an alternative way of teaching. Social-emotional learning and therapy integration will be important in this position. The ideal teacher will want to collaborate and be part of a team that is child-centered and devoted to supporting each child’s individual growth and success. The ideal teacher will focus on the developmental needs of the whole child: mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional.

Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print

The teacher must be able to foster a love of learning and help facilitate the exploration of each child’s interests in a way that is age appropriate and conducive to their success as young learners.

· Carefully observe children, document observations, collect samples of children's work, and communicate with parents regarding their progress.
· Provide a variety of developmentally appropriate materials to foster social skills, self-concept, and creative expression.
· Plan and implement a daily schedule that provides a balance of activities.

COVID Safety Measures: Candidates must be willing to comply with all COVID-related regulations and safety/health standards issued by local and state officials, especially mask-wearing outside the home and strictly limiting all unmasked interactions.
