Plan, organize, control, and direct special education services for a defined population of students with disabilities; provide monitoring and technical assistance and communicate between the District, other agencies and parents; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
Requirements / Qualifications
The Area Program Manager will support school sites in collaborative efforts to build and implement a robust integrated system for serving each and every student. Area Program Managers are responsible for assuring equitable access and academic rigor for students with Individual Education Programs (IEPs as well as assist schools to create structures and systems of support for all learners using the IMTSS framework. Area Program Managers provide coaching and support to schools using Marazano’s high reliability school model. The duties of this position include planning instructional supports, developing progress monitoring systems, designing curriculum, participating in professional learning communities, supporting schools and site leaders with the Least Restrictive Environment consultations that guide and support IEP teams to make student-based decisions, that create improved student outcomes. The Area Program Manager will lead and facilitate communication for site and district staff. The candidate will work in an integrated team in both Leadership and Learning and the Special Education Division. Additional Knowledge and Skills required for this position: Clear understanding of IDEA/IEP process. Ability to develop/deliver professional development. Effective communication/collaboration skills which allow for courageous conversations. Exceptional organization and prioritization skills. Understanding how to use data to analyze the strengths and needs of individuals and school sites to assist the school team in setting priorities to improve the delivery of special education supports and services. Knowledge and experience in effective instructional practices that improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: master's degree supplemented by four years of teaching and supervising experience in special education or as a school psychologist. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Administrative Services Credential authorizing service in grades K-12. Valid California driver's license.
