Job Summary

Job Summary

The Behavior Manager will promote early identification and intervention of and for students with behavioral, social, and/or emotional problems providing opportunities for ameliorative intervention; and recommend procedures for dealing with those effects on a student’s learning and behavior. The Behavior Manager’s primary goal is to increase attendance and decrease suspensions school wide, improving and maintaining a safe climate and culture conducive to learning. This position will work primarily within LACOE schools serving at-promise youth who may be incarcerated, expelled, homeless, foster, and suffer from chronic absenteeism, below grade level reading and math, and/or are credit deficient.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Any combination of education and experience that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: • Three years of employment required in the field of social work or school counseling working with school-age children • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification preferred. • Experience and training in Dialectical Behavior Training (DBT) preferred. • Teaching experience in school settings with at-risk youth, systems-involved preferred. • Work experience in juvenile court or county community school settings preferred Education: A Master’s degree in social work or counseling from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE • Must possess and maintain a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS) in social work or school counseling. • Child Welfare Authorization (CWA) preferred • California Clear Teaching Credential preferred
