Job Summary

Description of the Position The Office Manager is the first point of contact for parents and children when they come to school, as well as a resource to the school community. The Office Manager should always exhibit professionalism, treat people with respect, and be firm but compassionate in how they address the day-to-day challenges of a rigorous and purposeful school. This position requires a candidate to be a critical thinker, reflective, communicative, flexible, inclusive, and professional; the candidate fulfills Growing Place’s mission, philosophy, and pedagogy. Responsibilities and Duties Promoting Effective Teaching and Learning Work with Children Support teachers by contacting parents regarding ill/late/absent children Create a positive, trusting relationship with young children Score Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQs) yearly Work with Families Collaborate with Executive Director, Campus Director, and Program Coordinator to oversee and organize GP Friends Parent Committees Liaison between parent volunteers, vendors, and teachers to plan and execute school-wide events and activities Contact families regarding their children when needed and appropriate (e.g. parent forgot to sign in child, an ill child needs pick-up) Maintain attendance record-keeping daily Collaborate with administrators to onboard new families Update and maintain online communication platform with enrolled parents (Parent Square) Respond to family inquiries and requests promptly . Work with Faculty and Staff Respond to teacher and staff daily needs as they relate to the operation of the school Collaborate with administrators to onboard new faculty and staff Serve as the notetaker at All Staff Meetings and distribute notes to all faculty and staff in a timely manner Support with supervision of children when needed and appropriate Support the Directors, Program Coordinator, and Business Manager for record-keeping and marketing/communication for Annua

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements Skills A Bachelor’s Degree or higher 2 years of experience working in an office environment, preferably within a school Must meet the requirements of the California Department of Social Services (licensing), including an updated TB status, CPR certification, fingerprint clearance. We use a social constructivist approach to working with teachers, children, and families; in partnership with Reggio Emilia children in order to use best practices from their school systems in our context. We fundamentally view children as competent, resilient, and curious individuals; teachers as researchers, facilitators, and collaborators of learning for children and adults; parents as authentic partners. Organizational Overview There are three Growing Place campuses - Ocean Park, Marine Park, and Santa Monica Early Childhood Lab School (operated by The Growing Place). At Ocean Park, we serve children ages 2.5 to 5 years old; at Marine Park, we serve children 3 months to 5 years old; and the Lab School will include infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
