BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform liaison duties between school and parents to improve the communication and interaction between parents and schools; assist in the coordination and scheduling of parents in various school activities and projects.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Perform liaison duties between school and parents to improve the communication and interaction between parents and schools. Attend and participate in parent meetings, classes and parent involvement workshops; serve as presenter, facilitator or trainer for parent workshops; organize and assist with workshops for parents. Coordinate parent involvement activities at assigned sites; recruit, coordinate and manage parent involvement in programs and committees. Organize and participate in programs that support school expectations and parent participation. Facilitate communication among parents, teachers, administrators, the school staff and the community through flyers, bulletins and newsletters. Maintain a directory of school, District and community services available to meet social and personal needs of families. Maintain attendance records and other records and reports related to assigned activities; prepare handouts, parent information sheets, flyers and other materials, and distribute as appropriate. Operate a computer, assigned software and other standard office equipment; drive a vehicle to make home visits as needed. Assist parents and guardians in understanding their rights. Assist in the coordination and planning of major District events.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Record-keeping techniques. Oral and written communications skills in designated language(s). Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Telephone techniques and etiquette. Operation of a computer and standard office equipment.
ABILITY TO: Perform liaison duties between school and parents to improve the communication and interaction between parents and schools. Assist in the coordination and scheduling of parents in various school activities and projects. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Learn community, family service agencies and local business. Work with families from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Maintain records and prepare reports. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Operate a computer and standard office equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor environment. Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. Seeing to read a variety of materials. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.

Applicants must submit application, resume, 3 letters of recommendation (all must have been written within the last 12 months and one must be from current supervisor or latest evaluation), and copy of Degree.

All applicants selected for employment with the Earlimart School District will be required to submit fingerprint and TB clearance at their expense. Employment will begin once all clearances and paperwork have been received.
