Job Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services, the District Social Worker provides a wide range of support services to children, families, schools and the community to promote student engagement, including counseling, crisis support, consultation, case management, and related duties as assigned. The District Social Worker assists with program planning, supervision, mentoring, report writing, data collection, and committee work. The District Social Worker also oversees the district’s Social Work Intern Program. Specific Duties Include: • Develop a social work program, including recruitment of interns, supervision, program planning and evaluation; • Effectively oversee a social work intern program, including weekly individual supervision of interns and group supervision; • Plan and conduct programs to improve community health and counseling services and prevent at risk behaviors; • Improve school climate and culture, through the enhancement of outreach, student engagement strategies and parent education; • Encourage students to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships; • Guide students in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems; • Counsel students, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making positive changes; • Collect and assess information about students through interviews, observation, and review of documents; • Act as student advocate in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations; • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge; • Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans; • Meet with families, probation officers, police, and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary informati
